Disney Inspired Fashion: Part One

Remember when you were a little girl and you used to play dress up? As an adult, there are few excuses to dress like a Disney character, but you can still use their inspiration in your daily wardrobe. Just be sure not to take it to the extreme and use only accents reminiscent of princess style. To find out more about the fashion shown below visit http://brielise.polyvore.com/

Sleeping Beauty

Aurora, or Briar Rose, grows up in the woods surrounded by roses and with the woodland animals as her only friends. An owl necklace pays homage to the owl who she dances "Once Upon a Dream" with. The rose earrings are an understated touch, a contrast to the gold floral headband that recalls the tiara that is awaiting Princess Aurora. A pink dress with a floral accent would be perfect for Flora's vision of the fairy tale princess. The elegant blue dress on the bottom has splashes of contrasting color, a tribute to Flora and Merryweather's battle to the end for the color of Aurora's dress. A thorny bracelet bedazzled in roses is a perfect reminder of Prince Philip's brave rescue of the princess, and the awakening power of true love's kiss.

Beauty and the Beast

Belle spends the majority of the film in her practical blue and white dress, but her most momentous look is the gold ballgown she wears during the title song. To add small touches of Belle to your outfit, consider wearing roses or a mirrored locket: your only window to the outside world. Belle isn't really concerned with the trivial aspects of beauty. After all, you need to be comfortable to curl up with a good book or run an errand for papa. Grab a pair of classic ballet flats to complete your look. For a true tribute, you can always shop for a classic t-shirt to wear with your favorite pair of jeans!

Cinderella

Cinderella loves animals, especially the birds who sing and help her dress in the morning. The outfit pulls colors from Cinderella's everyday dress but makes it fun and interesting with a bird pattern on the skirt. The black Marc Jacobs' shoes, traditional in that they are ballet flats, are made quirky by the tiny mouse ears at the toe, a reminder of Cinderella's friends Gus and Jaq. The classic blue H&M dress is a practical daily alternative to Cinderella's ballgown. The jewelry and shoes, on the other hand, are perfect for a night out and will leave you sparkling. The black choker is a perfect replica of Cinderella's black ribbon but with the added touch of the rose, you'll be feeling anything but plain.

Snow White

Snow White, the fairest of them all, is contrasted by bright yellows, vivid crimson reds, and deep blues. Most of us don't mix primary colors in our outfits, but it can be done. A yellow skirt is the perfect contrast to a dark blue top, and can be brought together with some matching blue pumps. A red trench coat is a modern adaptation of Snow White's cloak, while a white scarf tops it off as a replacement for her large collar. The perfect accessory for a Snow White ensemble is of course a juicy, red apple, shown here by Disney Couture. A twisted branch bracelet completes the vision as a reminder of Snow White's journey through the dark forest. To really take a page from Snow White's beauty book, be sure to wear cherry red lipstick.

I think my favorite is the Sleeping Beauty one, not just because she's my favorite princess- but because the pieces are really lovely, and I can see how they match the movies without being totally literal. You did an awesome job- way to go!

Great hub, interesting concept and it plays out well. Very thoughtful, the suggestions are spot on and a great way to incorporate something beloved from your childhood into your everyday appearance.

After I read your other hub I just had to see what princesses were in part 1! I love the red trench in Snow white and the blue dress in Cinderella! Funny... those two have never been even close to my favorite princesses. Who would've thought?
