Disney Inspired Fashion: Part Three

Four more Disney heroines to inspire your style. You're not a little girl anymore, but that doesn't mean you can't emulate their style in your daily wardrobe! Each character has a different personality, just like every woman. Here's Princess Tiana, Pocahontas, Esmeralda and Meg, and for complete information about each look go here.

The Princess and the Frog

Set during the jazz age in America, Tiana's looks can inspire your modern wardrobe. If Tiana happens to be your favorite princess, you're in luck! The flapper look has made a comeback (thanks in part to Downton Abbey) with an updated look. Throw on a cloche to cover a bad hair day to top off the look. To take real inspiration from the plot of The Princess and the Frog, pay homage with froggy accents. Not a fan of the frog? Tiana's signature dress is embellished with leaf-like layers, so take a page from Tiana and accessorize with leaves. With a green dress, a frog scarf, and nail polish by OPI called "Fresh Frog of Bel Air", you'll be all set to take over New Orleans in style.

Pocahontas

Take a clue from Pocahontas and get some inspiration from nature. Use neutral tones as a base with accents taken from the "colors of the wind". A fringed boot or moccasin is both comfortable and stylish, or alternatively grab a fringed bag. If you're not into the fringe look, a pair of leather sandals can make you feel closer to the earth. Pair it with a leather satchel to carry all your treasures. A hummingbird charm is a constant reminder of Pocahontas's trusty friend, Flit, just as a turquoise necklace is a reminder of her mother. Wear a feather cuff to bring you closer to nature or a tree necklace to pay tribute to Grandmother Willow.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Esmeralda is the exotic gypsy from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. To copy her look, wear a lot of vibrant colors. A peasant shirt or a corset with a brightly colored skirt make for a great modern outfit. And for a gypsy, accessories are key. Bangles, gold hoop earrings, and a gold necklace sparkling with coins will make you jingle like Esmeralda. A pink scarf can either be wrapped around your hair or neck, or if you're a little more daring, try a fringed shawl just like the one Esmeralda wore. While Esmeralda never wore shoes, a pair of gold strappy sandals will leave you feeling both free and sexy. Let your hair down! Esmeralda was never afraid of what anyone thought and had the spunk to carry out some daring outfits (and feats)!

Hercules

Get some Grecian inspiration from Meg in Disney's Hercules. A Grecian dress is always in style and is an excellent look for a night out. The gladiator sandal pulls inspiration from the title character and are a comfortable alternative to high heels. Wear a braided headband or a crown of leaves and you'll be looking like a goddess yourself. Top of the looks with gold accessories like medallion necklaces, cuff bracelets, and winged barrettes. You'll be someone's muse by the end of the night.

This is really cool. I never thought about how Disney impacted fashion outside of things you can buy at places like the Disney store.
